“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:1
God knows His plan: A Review of His Faithfulness these 30 years
Since 1993, Lord’s Gym Ministries has served in the “ground zeros” of the Cincinnati and Tri-State Area. Over and over, we’ve gone to those in need – men, women and children who are under the heavy weight of poverty; who are stricken by domestic violence and crime; and who are imprisoned by addictive and destructive lifestyles – and created for them a safe place. These safe places, like our Covington gym facility, our newly renovated Price Hill Family Activity Center, and our STreet OutReach Ministry (STORM) bus, offer hope and a future to our friends.
At these “safe places,” we act as the hands and feet of Jesus, demonstrating God’s love in practical ways, like providing food, connecting individuals and families to life-saving resources, and offering a variety of youth sports and educational experiences. Lord’s Gym staff and volunteers have cultivated relationships that God uses to transform lives for His glory. Most importantly, Lord’s Gym has shown others the Savior and given them the opportunity to experience His unconditional understanding and love.
Lord’s Gym Ministries began out of the Foundation of Compassionate American Samaritans (FOCAS), which was established in 1986 by Richard “Dick” Taylor, an executive at GE Aircraft Engines in Cincinnati. After a mission trip to Hati, Dick was moved by God to design a ministry to transform lives for God’s glory, first in Hati, and then in his own community – thus the birth of Lord’s Gym Ministries in 1993.
In these 30 years of service to those we lovingly and honorably call “our friends,” God has remained faithful. His direction and provision allow us to keep living out our mission and vision. We are grateful.
We always say that Lord’s Gym, is the place where “people grow strong in the Lord,” a reference to Ephesians 6:10. The Lord continues to strengthen us – our staff, volunteers, partners, donors, and our friends. He remains steadfast in His faithfulness. He has a plan for us – to prosper us, to give hope and a future. We are grateful. We are now living in the next 30 years and looking forward to the Lord fulfilling His promises.
