We are so grateful for every volunteer who came, every donor who gave and every friend who came. We are so blessed to have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We are especially blessed to do what we do during the season that celebrates His birth. Thank you for serving with us!
Last Friday was a whirlwind of energy and excitement, and while it wasn’t without its challenges, the joy on the kids’ faces made every moment worthwhile.
Saturday morning’s gift-opening was the perfect cherry on top, a tangible reminder of the generosity and kindness that surrounds us. It’s not just about the gifts, though – it’s about the love and support that comes with them. Knowing that so many people have invested in these children’s lives, telling them they matter and are loved, is truly what makes the difference. – Valerie
Lord’s Gym Ministries and Urban Outreach of NKY Transition to Independent Operations to Better Serve the Greater Cincinnati Region
Lord’s Gym Ministries and Urban Outreach of Northern Kentucky, two faith-based organizations and pillars of hope and community service in the Tri-State area, announced a restructuring of their partnership, effective January 1, 2026, that will allow them to expand their positive impact in serving our beloved community’s residents, especially in the urban core.
For several years, the two ministries have shared resources and closely collaborated in running the operations at the gym facility located at 1601 Scott Street, Covington, KY. With this transition, Urban Outreach is exclusively taking over the gym’s operations in serving, equipping and empowering its clients in Covington while the Lord’s Gym Ministries will continue to expand its operations in Cincinnati. This strategic transition allows both organizations to better focus on their specific missions while continuing to identify other ways to potentially collaborate, serve and bring healing and hope to our community.
As of January 1, 2026, Lord’s Gym Ministries and Urban Outreach of Northern Kentucky will operate as completely separate and autonomous entities, which provides each organization greater flexibility to expand their respective programs, streamline internal governance and decision-making, and pursue specialized outreach initiatives tailored to address the ever evolving needs of Covington residents.
The organizations reached the decision through prayerful reflection and consideration by their respective Boards of Trustees. According to Scott Bowers, Executive Director and President of Lord’s Gym Ministries, “Operating independently allows us to further focus on our organizations’ respective strategic vision; however, our shared history of collaboration and service ensures we will remain deeply connected in spirit and purpose.” Pastor James Duncan, founder and President of Urban Outreach added, “Covington is really growing, and more of our neighbors are reaching out for help than
ever before. Following Jesus’ call to love and serve, we’re committed to staying right here for the long haul—helping everyone we meet grow stronger and live the abundant, fruitful lives God intended for them.”
The two organizations are working closely to ensure a seamless transition and continued care of and service to the people they are blessed to serve. Donors, volunteers, and community members can expect the same high standard of care and Gospel-centered outreach from both organizations. Further information regarding specific program updates for 2026 will be available on their respective websites and social media channels.
An Introduction to Lord's Gym Ministries
Lord’s Gym Ministries, borne of the Foundation of Compassionate American Samaritans (FOCAS), began in 1993 serving in the urban core of Greater Cincinnati transforming lives and seeing people grow strong in the Lord (Ephesians 6:10).
We work on a very spartan budget, limited processes, a no-frills environment, and high financial accountability standards. We have been a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability or ECFA since 2002.
